Light the Way

Our stained glass lanterns are in demand. They are most attractive and functional for any outdoor space whether you have a terrace, a screened-in porch or a deck or want to use it to light the way to the garden. There is something calming about lighting a lantern up at night and sitting beside it in the dark. This year you’ll be hearing the cicadas sing!

Flight of the Hummingbird

According to this hummingbird migration map, we are getting closer to when the tiny birds will be arriving in the State of Maryland. The may be in southern Virginia by now.

If you reside in the northern climates it will take them longer to arrive at your windows. But we at MZ Glassworks can have a hummingbird, one of best selling light catchers, at your door quite quickly. A hummingbird’s popularity can be attributed to what they represent joy, prosperity, good luck and freedom. Something that’s been lacking in this time of social distancing.

Once the pandemic is well-under control, I think we will all be like the hummingbird flitting from here to there feeling rather neighborly! It’s March 6th, and you know what that means! St. Patricks Day is just around the corner. The weather may not quite be conducive to searching fields of clover to find that 4 leafed Emerald gem which is said to be special.

The Call of Spring

If you are a bird watcher, I bet one of the things you look forward to with spring just around the corner is getting outside more and hearing the birdsong. The mockingbirds, robins, sparrows, catbirds, orioles, cardinals all have their unique calls.

Finding the Bright Spot

Happy New Year!  We at MZ Glassworks are thrilled to usher in a New Year. Although last year was tough, the take-away is we all became more resilient and flexible and perhaps many of us learned what’s really important.

Growing Collections

Isn’t it fun to pull out your Christmas decorations every year? In our family as we unpack the boxes we like remembering who and where the tree ornament and other Christmas decorations came from. We can often associate a specific ornament with a year or event.

On-line buying means you can order at any time of day or night through a website!  You don’t have to wait for Santa to bring it. Prefer seeing products in person? We will be at the  Carroll County Agricultural Center in Westminster, Maryland on December 19 from 8am to 2 pm. We will be pulling out all the stops with a huge varied of stained glass products –  sun catchers, windchimes, lanterns, panels and more!

Halloween in the Air

Yep, the season has begun. Halloween costumes and candy are in the stores. This year, trick-or-treat may feel a little different since many parents are understandably hesitant about where they take their children in this virus season.

We are thankful at MZ Glassworks there are no restrictions on Halloween decorating! One of our newer products, our lanterns, may be the perfect addition to your cache of seasonal decorating because as it’s been said “Give light and people will find the way.” 

So, our advice to you is Be wise, be prepared! Have wrapped candy on hand just incase someone swings by. You don’t want any little ones being turned away empty handed and crying their eyes out saying “Boo-Hoo.”

Fall Favorites

Here at MZ Glassworks we love fall and decorating for the season.

So far, there’s only the stray leaf on the sidewalk that has turned from summer green to having a tinge of yellow, red or rust. Or something inbetween.

But inside MZ Glassworks we’ve got a great assortment of leaf lightcatchers, glass chimes and other seasonal favorites.

Be wise, avoid stepping inside a brick and mortar shop. We will ship them right to you, no risk involved.
